Consistently inconsistent…

After the events of yesterday we have decided to give our

opinion on the Scottish FAs Compliance Officer and consistency of refereeing decisions.

It doesn’t come as a shock that decisions from a Celtic

supporting Compliance Officer go against Rangers but when it becomes so blatantly obvious something must be said. Alan Power’s high foot on Ryan Jack could have

seriously injured him, deeming the challenge serious foul play. I can only imagine that if that was Ryan Jack on Alan Power he would have been sent off and also cited by the Compliance Officer.

All this has come from a media frenzy started by BBC’s Sportscene to get Alfredo Morelos cited for a coming together with Aberdeen’s Scott McKenna. Video footage clearly shows Morelos moving his leg out of the way,

with no intention of stamping on McKenna, only for the Aberdeen centre back to boot Morelos in the face. Morelos was simply sent off for his reputation and has now been cited because the media cannot hide their hatred for Rangers.

Other incidents such as Paul McGinn’s flying elbow have not been cited due to ‘insufficient evidence’, it’s not like there is actual video footage of this incident as well as the referee booking McGinn for the challenge. We can talk about it until we are blue in the face but refereeing in

this county is consistently inconsistent and something needs to be done about it. If we want to improve football in this country, let’s start with employing people fit to do the job rather than bring in VAR to cause the paranoid even

more pain.

Hibernian player Darnell Johnson has been handed a two match ban for a challenge on Celtics below-average left back, cited for being ‘serious foul play’. Johnson was originally booked for this challenge but once again the Compliance Officer shows her colours and hands a ban for the player. In the very same game Celtics centre back flattened Hibs young forward Oli Shaw in a horrendous lunge, only to be booked and clear of any wrong doing, what team does the Compliance Officer support again?

I would call for absolutely transparency and consistency

from our officials but unfortunately we all know this is not going to happen. Not only that but what do you do when there is someone with no experience in football working as a Compliance Officer and making a meal of every decision

she makes.

I suspect Rangers will challenge the decision made again

Ryan Jack, but it will only be laughed off by the Rangers hating media. Imagine if Power had booted Scott Brown in the head, I wonder what would have happened then?
